Hi! I’m Marquita. I am an educator, black belt karate instructor and the youngest of three girls. Courage, Kinks, and Curves is a personal style blog about some of the things I love: budget friendly fashion, natural hair, and the promotion of body positivity and self-acceptance.
About Courage, Kinks, and Curves
Courage- “Act with courage, and may the Lord be with those who do well.” 2 Chronicles 19:11
Believe it or not, I’ve always been a shy person. I’ve been reading blogs for a few years now, and always knew that starting a blog was something I could do and wanted to do. But, I sat on the idea for over a year! Recently I decided, no more of that! I told myself I was going to step out on faith and act with courage! I’m so glad I did! Though becoming a blogger has certainly forced me to step outside my comfort zone, I’m excited to see where this endeavor takes me!
Kinks- “Don’t remove the kinks from your hair. Remove them from your brain.”- Marcus Garvey
This blog will show how I rock my natural hair. I've been natural for three years and I love the versatility of my naturally kinky hair. As my hair continues to grow, I hope to explore new styles.
“Curve: the loveliest distance between two points”. –Mae West
Often people categorize curvy as “plus-size”, but I believe curvy comes in ALL sizes. I believe that whether you’re a size 4 or 14, you should love yourself and embrace your curves! I am representing for the smaller curvy girls…size 6/8 and loving it!
A few of my favorite curvy girl inspirations are: Beyoncé, Jennifer Love Hewitt, the Kardashian sisters (YES…I love them!), Marquita Pring (fierce supermodel…and we share the same name J), Tracee Ellis Ross, Michelle Obama, and Jennifer Lopez.
Courage, Kinks, and Curves will showcase my style that I define as fashionably casual. I'm a budget friendly blogger, so when I'm not shopping my closet, the majority of the items I buy are purchased at discounted prices.
